Chemical-free disinfection

Chemical-free disinfection of indoor air in stadiums, arenas, sports facilities

An amount for infection protection with certified UV-C technology from Martin Sembach, Director Strategic Business Development at GoGaS Goch GmbH & Co. KG.

In addition to the sporting events themselves, safety, reliability and comfort are among the basic needs and expectations of stadium visitors around the world. In 2020, the term security and the associated challenges posed by SARS CoV-2 became even more important. In its September 2, 2020 edition, the Ärzteblatt reported on how a so-called super spreader event came about in a tour group in Hangzhou, China, at the beginning of 2020. The group was split into two buses. According to Ärzteblatt, about 35% of the travelers were infected in the first bus during a 50-minute journey, not a single passenger in the second bus. The first time the air conditioning was out of order.

According to the findings of an investigation and study by JAMA Intern Med. 2020; 180 (12), the prevalence in the first bus is precisely due to this shortcoming. This post shows, based on this experience, that
Incidentally, it can be easily transferred to practically all rooms in stadiums, arenas and sports facilities with a large number of people, possibilities for better protection of visitors and staff, through the use of validated
Techniques for indoor air disinfection. The UV-C technology, which has been used successfully for more than 100 years in the medical, food, pharmaceutical and electrical industries, is used.

INTERVIEW WITH GOGAS EN

CONCLUSIONS FOR 2020

Easy Engineering: How was this year in terms of turnover?

Martin Sembach: 2020 was a year with challenges and opportunities. Looking at GoGaS business, being built around sustainability, energy efficiency and safety, our opportunities where much bigger than the challenges. One major reason for this
has been SARS-CoV-2 and its impact to all business around the globe. This global pandemic challenge has basically split the market into two segments. Companies whose business model had already been challenged before and companies who
took the challenge and did benefit from the fact, that SARS-CoV-2 gave them a strategic advantage in the markets they served.

Our company has clearly been on the winner side, allowing us to benefit from our clear strategy, serving all our customers with the most sustainable, energy efficient and total lowest cost solutions, in all the fields we served.

INTERsens® activated carbon filter

Activated carbon filter for UV-C technology against aerosols

With activated carbon filters, the INTERsens® series from GoGaS Goch GmbH & Co.KG should disinfect the room air without chemicals and remove unpleasant odors. The products can be individually designed thanks to the mesh cover.

The INTERsens® range was previously certified and, according to GoGaS, should function 100% chemical-free against infectious aerosols with validated UV-C technology. According to GoGas, the activated carbon filters that have now been added are a novelty among manufacturers of such systems.

The company describes the technology from the GoGaS portfolio for technical building equipment (TGA) as “tried and tested”.
