Rail car thawing system with high intensity infrared radiant gas heaters

The GoGaS rail car thawing system with gas infrared heaters and underfloor burners has proved to be one of the most favorable methods for wagon thawing. The heating energy is natural gas or LPG. Three gas infrared heaters are housed in a "cabinet" protected by a door that can be closed against mechanical damage when the system is not in operation. This door, when open, also serves as a windbreak, thereby increasing the efficiency of the system. Cabinets on both sides of the track form the side heating for the wagons.

A big advantage of the system is that in many cases an elaborate defrosting hall can be dispensed with. Since the minimum clearance profile is maintained, the safety of the operating personnel is ensured.

Matched to the wagon length, the appropriate number of side heating cabinets are installed on each side to guarantee targeted and energy-efficient thawing.

This system is completed by special underbody burners which are installed between the rails. The heat transfer from the underbody burners to the wagon bootom is largely carried out by convection (hot flue gases). This type of system is available as a freestanding and a covered version.
